If Dan wanted to pull off a solo album, more power to him. I made my
comment about Dans based on what I've heard on records and at shows. Then
again I've never heard anything where Dans voice was at the fore front.
I don't underestimate Dan. Hes accomplished much more as a musician than I

hey, im a fairly new SDRE fan, and have the 3 studio albums and jeremy's
solo i am VERY interested in CDR trading of SDRE and similar bands, and
i have a (slightly outdated) list of all my bootlegs and CDs at :

also, could you list some of the bands that ar
Hey everyone...
I'm new to the list, and also a bit new to SDRE. A quick summary: I had heard
a few songs by them, never thought to get one of their albums till this year
because a lot of people I talk to on this Radiohead list I run praised them
so much, then I picked up "Diary," and because
What is this silliness?
I can understand people not preferring Dan's voice over Jeremy's, but going
so very far as to say a solo album is not a good idea? That's a horrible
thing to say.
I am willing to bet my mother's corpse that if Dan wrote and recorded a solo
album, it would surprise the
hello all,
I'm not sure if Dan and a solo record would be good or not. Jeremy's
solo record was great, but it isn't a whole lot like sdre as a group.
maybe dan would be completely different than sdre and be great. but we
don't know what he would want to sound like. he could make a whole
album of
I would like to add something. People have to remember that Sunny Day
started as Dan and Nate writing songs together, THEN they added William and
Jeremy. Since Nate's gone, Dan's the only original member left of the
creative focus that culminated in Sunny Day Real Estate. I think a harder,

I'd have to agree about Dans voice. It's just not made to be the central
point of music. He's a kick ass guitar player, and he has a great way of
making the crowd feel good at a show. But hes not a lead singer. ya know who
has a good voice is Joe Bass. Listen to one of there live perfromances o
Take a listen, pretty cool!

i don't think a dan solo record is a good idea. SDRE is one of those bands
that is excellent due to the different parts coming together. i really loved
jeremy's solo album, but i feel that he is a unique talent that amazingly
pulled it off in a different direction. maybe it's just me, but i'
I think that dan plays a lot more of a role in the songwriting for SDRE than you
think. Even more than jeremy. just cause he doesn't sing anymore doesn't mean he
doesn't write the songs :-)

yeah, dan was the main singer/songwriter, but they didnt get anywhere with
that because his voice wasnt that great (this isnt my opinion, his backing
vocals are good, and ive never heard him sing alone but im thinking it
probably wouldnt sound too great.) so i dont think a solo record of his wo
that's really funnyi was just thinking the other day how dan doesn't get
much attention these days, in the sdre hooplah..i meanhe IS the sole
reason sunny day exists...or one of them anyway..
Chris...
Will and Nate played a big part in making Dan's songs work. He is
a great writer, but a heavy one. I'd love to see a solo record to bookend
Jeremy's, so long as he can play or get people to play hard enough for his
awesome wall of sound songs.
