list,

so last night i went to the in-store at music millenium in portland.

setlist:

   one
   every shining time you arrive
   the ocean
   8
   faces in disguise
   guitar and video games

it was really short, but it was only an in-store. jeremy was much, much
more animated and talkative than i had ever seen him before. he talked more
than dan. he had some trouble with his acoustic guitar before and during the
ocean, so he made it into a big joke.

after faces in disguise they tried to leave and said they didn't have
anything more to play. people were yelling for guitar and video games, so
they played that.

all in all, it was pretty weak. i know that in-stores don't always the
same intensity as real shows, but great bands can make in-store performances
great. and this was not great. they hardly moved the whole time. the
keyboardist/thrid guitarist/backup singer is useless. i like the music a lot
more without the keyboards, and he looked very bored the whole time. and his
voice sucked. i miss joe.

one other thing i thought was interesting is the way the band is set up
now. dan is on the far side, will is next to him, jeremy is next to him, and
the other two guys are off in the corner. while i was watching, i was
thinking that this is probably no accident. it's the three "real" members of
the band saying, "this is the band here in the center, look over and see the
other guys if you want."

so that's it. it was cool to see them play 8. i'm glad i went just to
see them. see ya.
                                                         chris
