Actually, rpm should do it for you, if you're updated.

Hello,
After getting a kernel upgrade through up2date, I've used the kernel
confidently for quite a while now, and I was wondering what I need to do
to completely get rid of all traces of the old kernel...I believe there
should only be 2 steps:
1) do an rpm uninstall of that old kernel
2) remove
"service ipchains stop"
"chkconfig ipchains off"
"rmmod ipchains"
"rpm -e ipchains"
