you could disable password authentication in sshd_config
(PasswordAuthentication no) and use rsa certs for access. make sure you
disable ssh-keygen on the host box so someone doesn't just conjure up a
key and connect anyway. make it group/user executable and put the
people you want connecting

I can't go the commercial path like websense ecc (PHB problem), and
looking at them with eyeball and memory really won't do any good :(

akamai is a load balancing service that essentially acts as a mirror for
heavily loaded sites. nav is using it to reduce the load on their
servers and to speed network downloads. is it safe? don't know, but it
is a legitimate service.
