Yes, standard ftp is all clear text.

FTP login is indeed cleartext. Use SSH or OpenSSH's scp (secure file copy)
instead.

cleartext. They are only secure from eavesdroppers if an encrypted
tunnel is set up first.

Standard FTP login process uses clear text. Try sftp/scp ( by ssh
package ).
