I'd suggest you to read Network Intrusion Detection An Analyst's Handbook
from Stephen
Here are 2 good books on digital privacy. They are not too technical and they
cover many aspects of computer privacy (not just crypto). They have been
written by 2 of most well respected and recognized cryptographers / computer
security people.

I'd suggest you to read Network Intrusion Detection An Analyst's Handbook
from Stephen Northcutt and Judy Novak (News Riders Edition)
They're both SANS and GIAC handlers.
It's a real good book, with a lot of easy understanding examples and tutorials.
