Anyone want to explain to me why the ParserBeforeStrip hook is being
used to register parser functions?
That is a poor place for it, as well as unreliable. Which I can see by
how the function being called is a major hack relying on the first call
returning the callback name when already set..

Markus, I see that you have it all lined up! It'll be great if it gets into
1.3 - I will finally kill DPL on TechPresentations ;) but if you'll have
hard time with it, I can wait till 1.3.1 too ;)
