Hi Steve, Thanks for the information. I have managed to connect to GMail and download my emails. There are however a few changes. 1/ you need to use javamail 1.3.2+ and not 1.3.1 as shipped with james 2.2.1-RC1 2/ you need to replace mail-1.3.1.jar in james.sar with the 1.3.2, I've used winzip
