Can anyone tell me where I can find and engine cradle or engine dolly for a
2.2. Most of the ones I find are for V8's. I am pulling the 2.2 out of my 89
Shelby and I want to leave the transmission attached, so I can't use a engine
stand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I built my own. Works great. I have 4 of them now for most of the
spare drivetrains I own.
To start, I bought a padded furniture dolly, then picked a piece of 3/4
plywood (Rampages are great for this kind of project, lol). Cut the
plywood to the width of the dolly/drivetrain and cut it to the
I've never seen a 2.2 specific engine dolly, most are
for small block chevys. There are some universal fit
ones out there, but even those don't look they would
work very well for a 2.2.
I have some homemade dollys that I use, they started

Hi All,
My 90 TI shelby Daytona has bad differential bearings. I just replaced a seal
on the drivers side last night and found lots of metal flakes. The tranny is
still working OK but I need to get this corrected as soon as possible. The
magnet in the tranny is only going to catch so much

Hey Guys.
I was wondering what is the maximum allowable amount of freeplay for a
turbo shaft. Whether it is fore and aft or side to side.
I would like to know if the turbo needs to be rebuilt before I do
anything else to the car. That way I will just do a valve job etc...at the
1/8-1/4 is normal after the oil pressure has bleed down on an older
turbo. Be very wary of turbos with lots of end play, that's when
they'll tend to be considered long for this world.
Good luck,

Two years ago I replaced my clutch in my 87 t2 Daytona and saw the same
thing. Took the differential assembly to a NAPA machine shop with a set of
new bearings and 40 dollars later the old bearings were pressed out and the
new bearings were in. Over it wasn't hard just tedious, didnt have to
Changing the bearings arent quite as easy as it looks. The races need
to be replaced at the same time, or the bearings will wear out
prematurely. On top of that, when you replace bearings, you change the
clearances of the bearings, and there can be too much or not enough load
on the bearings
