I have a stockish GLHS with a not too long ago 2.2l rebuild. It has a 5th
injector, and I am currently boosting to 17.5psi with stock fuel pump,
regulator and injectors. I do have a MP LM in the car.

A few years ago, I had a similar problem with an '86 GLHT. I replaced
the in-tank fuel pump first, but it still had the problem. Replacing
the external pump did the trick.
These are both factory pumps. The in-tank pump is a low-pressure pump.
The external pump is a high-pressure
Make sure the black plastic rain shield is in place on the distributor as it
does provide some heat shielding from the air coming off the radiator fan.
Also make sure the fiberglass insulation below the intake (on the back of the
