Jarvis,

The easy "improved stock" replacement is to get a stock BOV for a Spirit
R/T (they are good to about 17 psi). I bought one for my car but now that
I have a computer that goes to 20 psi, it won't really work for me. If
you want to get this one, I'll send it to you for $20 shipped.

PS, yes, you're right about it venting boost and loosing performance.

Thanks,

Marc Medina

  Hi all,

I have a couple questions about blow off valves. We have a '90
Lebaron GTC VNT with high miles. The BOV is shot as evidenced by the
very obvious fluttering when you lift your foot off the gas. We still
get plenty of boost and power.

Question 1: Is this something that I need to fix to protect the
turbo? I would think that a weak BOV would not actually put extra
stress on the turbo, but might limit boost. Dangerous or no?

Question 2: What options are there for aftermarket ones? Any
recommendations? The car is essentially stock. The thing is that my
small amount of research suggests that aftermarket BOV's try to be
loud on purpose. I would really rather not be loud. Nice and quiet
for this car is just fine. Can I get a decent quality quiet
  aftermarket BOV?

  Thanks for the help!
