When I was putting my motor together, the FSM says what angle to have the 'special' tool at. This info is useless when you use standard tools. I was going to go with the imprint on the block left by the hardware, as to where the pulley should be positioned. I still went to another car and checked to see it's about 90 degrees like Stefan mentioned. Turns out I had it in the right place.
