Dave:

I haven't hit the SRV-II yet, only the Mv2. Just got back from
playing a round with a bunch of my new drivers (club count was
definitely over 14). Happened to play with a fellow Shoptalker (Chris) and
she will keep me honest if I get carried away with my reviews.
I hit the Mv2/Pure Energy a ton and really like this driver. My only
birdie of the day was on a par five. After a towering blast with this
combo that left 150 or so to the pin, I was left with a nearly
impossible shot through a bunch of trees. I closed my eyes and,
hoping the Hogan Apex golf ball was not the last thing I'd see on
this earth, proceeded to somehow hit the ball on the green. Using my
Golf Ball Sweet Spot Finder marked ball(you've got to try this thing)
I missed my eagle putt by a foot or so and tapped in for birdie. I
think our swings are similar...I have a stiff flex, untipped and inserted
it about 2" and this works out great for me. I tried the Pure Energy
because of the positive feedback from you and Bernie and other
shoptalkers and I think this shaft is a winner. The head is very
solid, looks great (kind of a black metallic gold), and has a deep face.
I had a lot of luck with the new Penley ETAwith a 975J 10.5 deg.
driver. Everything is perfect about this club. I'm hitting it a bit
high but straight and long. Beautiful blue paint treatment with
silver logo looks fantastic and the shaft has that Penley "feel"
they're noted for.
I had one outstanding blast (and several bad ones) with the mellow
yellow/fuji tour 70 combo. I like the head and shaft, going to send
it in for a paint job.
Also hit a MFS65n S1 "orange crush" with a 9 deg SMT Shinnecock. The
MFS65n is a great shaft (like the head, too). My lurking shoptalker
pal also tried this (she normally hits a 3 wood off the tee) and hit
about a foot behind the ball and still outdrove her 3 wood drive off
the same tee. We'll get her set up with the right flex/length and
she'll be golden.
The MFS65n, ETA, and Pure Energy shafts are my favorites for 2002. If
I had to pick one, the MFS65n (either orange or midnight blue) would
be my choice.

Try that AJ in the Mv2, I think you'll like it. Deep face, great feel
and distance...you'll be conflicted, what to do with all these great
drivers. No matter how many drivers/shafts I try, I always go back to
the AJ Tech shafts.
