Thanks, Sergey. I just recompiled both BLACS and SCALAPACP w/ MPI-1.2.7-gm and intel-9 instead of using system provided scalapack-1.7.4, and repeated the compilation for SIESTA. But the same thing happens. This problem is really weird. Is it due to the new version of MPI? Eric [EMAIL PROTECTED]@
