I think that the author messed up this particular package making it require
c_compiler instead of provide it. I tried gcc-2.95, and besides a typo- it
requires kernel_headers instead of kernel-headers- it installed fine.

do you currently have an older version of gcc available? if so it's not
finding it. i don't know why it would need an older version, i don't think
the rpm installation involves any compilation, that's kind of the point of rpm.

I'm trying to install gcc-2.7.2.3 using rpm, but get the error that
c_compiler is needed by gcc. Is this a package? If so, I can't find it.
Or is this the C_COMPILER variable I see in Makefiles?
Thanks,
Frank Phillips
