I have been lurking on silicon beach for a little while and figure its time I introduced myself. I am a software developer based in Melbourne. I have been writing software professionally for 15 years. Additionally, I have been working on PhD relating to personalization and the semantic web from which I graduated last year. My interest in Silicon Beach is in connecting with people who are interested in creating companies based on software technology. I have a strong technical background but have realized this is a distinct skill from being able to start a business.
I have already learnt a lot from watching the discussions on Silicon Beach and am also inspired by the activity I see here to continue striving towards my own goals around launching successful startups. I am keen to engage with people in the Melbourne area who are interested in meeting up – something like the regular Friday night drinks Sydney has would be great.
