We've basically written our own version of stripe.com on top of eWays (painful)
token API and a USD NAB merchant account. It was painful and time consuming so
I'd suggest sucking it up and dealing with the extra charges that the third

One option I've been looking at lately is http://saasy.com - its run by
Fastspring, so they have a track record. Its a third party, but better than
most 3P payment setups.
They've been quite responsive to emails so it might be worth getting in touch
