The gist of it is there are no licencing rights attached to buying a
DVD and renting. I can buy from JB-HiFi and rent out via applebox.
When I rent to someone, copyright isn't violated when they take a DVD
home to watch
When I ran marketing and business development for Kazaa we did content
deals with movie, music and software publishers.
