Matt from ORNL has told me of experiments they have run with gyroscopes where
there is a slight loss of weight in the gyroscope itself, but more interestingly
there appears to be a loss in weight of anything above it as well. If I
remember right, the gyroscope needed to have a chrage on it, but
I believe they are referring to the algae that causes the red tide:

Get some silver nitrate from a chemical supplier, then dip half of a piece of
copper tubing into it. Silver will plate out on the copper. This should be a
lot less exensive than having a silversmith do it.

Some are and some aren't. I will check to see if the large fiberglass
watering tub is cleared of algae although, it isn't quite algae season just
yet. Also, the flow of water would influence the growth of algae, wouldn't
it?
