output is about the same.
The timer also known as a zapper changes polarity every 10 to 3,500 times
per minute. With the battery it might be necessasry to change hands every
minute or so.

I dont think a 555 reverses polartiy dose it. I have only seen them switch on
and off.
I use an LM358 and I can run it up to 36 volts no problem.
