There is a product called "Not Nice to Lice"  that is a natural way to kill 
lice without all the pesticide chemicals.  I read about it online when someone 
I knew had contacted lice last year that the prescribed Nix did not phase.  
After passing along the article, I couldn't help but wonder why the medical 
field wasn't prescribing the alternatives to the dangerous Nix and Quell (has 
lindane no less) shampoos.  I imagine one could locate the article by typing it 
into search.
 
I did get the vet to see the sick pom rescue this morning - she did some sub Q 
fluids and prescribed Clavamox.  The dog died early this afternoon.  :(  I fear 
he had gone to long without eating and his system was simply overwhelmed by 
this virulent form of kennel cough, no doubt compounded by his rotten teeth and 
severe neglect.  How sad the shelter had him for 18 days and was lacking the 
personnel & time to treat the illness.  He was very sweet.
