I have 3 9V batteries, hooked up together, then 2 fine silver wires, .999 purity, connected with alligator clip wires. It is most essential to get the best distilled water you can get, no matter what generator you are using. I have a potentiometer (adjustable resistor) to limit the current. Radio Shack probably has everything. here we go to a surplus place called Axeman.

I started out with 3 batteries, wires with alligator clips on the end, and fine silver wire, the bigger the better, 10 or 12 gauge. My husband picked up the silver for me at a jeweler's supply when he went for something else. I had a voltmeter/ammeter/ohmmeter for the house, and I hooked it up for fun to see what was going on with the solution over time. It is not necessary, but I enjoy that kind of thing. I had to watch the brew carefully to see when to unhook it, watching and timing the brew.

I didn't like having to watch it so carefully, even though it was interesting to watch (for awhile), so I got a potentiometer (100k ?) and put it in line (in series), and checked the resistance with the multimeter. This sets a ceiling on the current for the most part, so it doesn't get away from you and form too many grey fuzzies on the end of the wire. It seems to work really well, although really slowly, at less than .3mA. I got a new multimeter for Christmas that goes down to micro Amps, so that would be 300 microAmps (Radio Shack comes through). Another present I got for myself is the Com 100 conductivity meter (silverpuppy site), so I can check both the distilled water and the ppm of the resulting brew.

A quart of distilled water that measures less than 2uS took me about 24 hours to get up to 10 ppm with the current limiter (aka potentiometer). The thing the potentiometer does for me is keeps the particles from hooking up and getting bigger, so the particle size stays very small. I am not sure it matters, really, the CS works either way, this is just what I am doing at the moment.

The www.silvermedicine.org site is really good for information; here is a link that is similar to my set up, but I added the potentiometer : You can do the whole shebang from this site, excellent directions:

here's another site with other options for designs:

Here's another site, uses a 6 V DC electric plug, but you don't need the bubbler if the current is below about .3 mA:

Hi, Jen,

I make my own with a simple homemade set up with 3 batteries. It is not as simple as buying a generator, but I think it is easy. I just have to check it now and then.

Since I do not have a commercial machine, I can only tell you what others have said that I remember- Silver Gen and Silver Puppy are two that I heard are good. You don't have to watch them, and I think they turn off automatically. The only thing you have to worry about then is getting really pure water- it has to have nothing else in it, or you end up making silver compounds instead of ionic silver. Here is the US, we use distilled water, I forget what it is called in the UK, and I have NO idea what the equivalent would be in NZ.

I bought a meter for testing the electrical conductivity of water, and I test my water before I make a batch. If it is less than2uS I use it. Sometimes, depending on the brand it comes out far higher than that, the worst was maybe 10uS or so, I just drank that one.

www.silverpuppy.com

Both guys are honest and know what they are doing, so I don't think you can go wrong there.

If you want to make a simple generator, I can help you, or can steer you to one of several good sites for doing it.

Hi

I've just joined this list. My name is Jen and I live in New Zealand. Have used colloidal silver on and off for the past couple of years with some good results. In particular I want to put it in my pets' drinking water to maintain good health. I have come to the big decision to buy my own generator but I am not too sure what I should be looking for. Is expensive better? So many manufacturers make huge claims and I'm becoming confused. Hope you can help.
