Marshall: Bacteria are the digesters, just as the microbial populations in the soil are the fertility element in all agriculture. Kill off the bacteria, earth worms, enzymes and you have dead soil. Kill off the microbes in the human or animal and the human or animal dies. We are coexistent with all the other creatures on every level. The stomach does not digest with acids in a chemical bath. The enzymes and bacteria's and fungus all play a roll in our digestion. Putrefaction is an anaerobic decomposition with it's resulting gases that causes people to regurgitate and go into diarrhea or worse. If we have the proper enzymes and bacteria in the gut or coming with the food we have normal digestion. Intestinal flora is one excepted term for the proper enzyme / bacterial array. Del Snow This seems contradictory. Putrifaction (sp? not in my spell checker :<) is caused by bacteria, so it seems contradictory to say that if you don't have (the right bacteria) bacteria in your gut then purtifaction (which is caused by bacteria) will a problem. It is a matter of if you don't have the "good" bacteria then the "bad" bacteria will cause purtifaction? Or am I missing something here?
