My first child was given silver nitrate after birth which is caustic.She also continued to have senitive eyes and vision weakness. My son had antibiotic drops with no issues and the other 4 had nothing and have better than 20/20. Of course I also knew there was no transferrable infection.

They use to use silver nitrate in the baby's eyes, but because the pharms made no money on it they convinced most hospitals to use unreliable antibiotics instead. A hospital locally was using antibiotics, and a baby was blinded because the gonerreah it was exposed to was immune to the antibiotics.

Is it still the protocol to put a silver compound in newborn baby's eyes? I was mildly surprised to hear my daughter has been offered this as an option from her midwife. I knew this was done for the possibility of syphilis caused blindness previously, but still, with the ability to test for the
