Ok I've just built a small current controlled CS maker. I was using 3 9v then moved to 3 9v with a 7805 to regulate the current and now moved to 3 9v with a lm317/ It seems to work well. What I've noticed though is that with higher amp the buildup on the neg electrode is black and quite allot. When the current is turned down there is the same amount of buildup but the buildup is silver. When the current is turned right down the there appears to be no buildup or minimal anyway.

Has anyone got any idea why the color would change moving from mid range amp to high?

I ended up using a 56ohm resistor with 1Kohm pot. It gives me a range of around 1milli amp to 25milli amp if i remember right. Its in that region cant find the piece of paper i wrote it down on. Its pretty excellent the current is never allowed to exceed what you set as the maximum. I use a bubbler as well and the colloid is clear and nasty tasting.

I finally found distilled water. I have been using de mineralized water, and its worked fine. The distilled is slightly more expensive. Not sure if i need to bother as the stuff i use is good. Any thoughts?

take care all
