Hi everybody,

I have a small suggestion that will improve the list's operation a
little bit.

I notice that quite a few people, being well mannered, like to express
their thanks for others' contributions and answers to their questions.
This is fine. It's wonderful, in fact. After all, most folks like to
feel appreciated.

Now, lately our message volume has frequently been peaking well beyond
a couple dozen a day. This can be burdensome to people on dial-up or
with limited time or energy.

Here's my suggestion: If you'd like to thank people, please wait until
a number of responses have come in and thank several of them at once
rather than answering each message individually, quoting the whole
thing, usually, and adding a single line response. You might need to
jot down a few notes so you don't forget anyone, but it will be worth
the effort.

If you've got questions or things to add, don't hesitate to respond
individually. In fact, you can often tack on your thank-you's to such a
message. I think this way we could probably knock a dozen messages off
our daily tally without losing any content nor any of the civility that
such behavior contributes.

Sound reasonable? If you've got questions about this or anything else,
please let me know. I'm always at mdev...@eskimo.com ...

Thank you very much, my friends.

Be well,

Mike Devour
