I know that this is off topic, but we do communicate with Decservers from the
SIMH microvax simulator. We bought a replacement DECserver-90L and it is set
with non-standard passwords, so it is unusable.
Anyone know how to force a factory reset? There is no reset button.
Sincerely,

Although I am not familiar with the machine in question, wouldn't there be
a capacitor to short or a battery to remove?
Hope that helps

Not clear. Another issue is that the 90 and 900 series devices come in plastic
cases that are quite hard to open, especially if you want the case to survive
the experience.
Bob, is there a small hole somewhere in the case? There might be a button
inside intended to be actuated by a straighten

We have the physical device. With respect to the first suggestion to find
someplace where there might have been a reset button, we have removed the
plastic covers and there is nothing visible.
On Decserver-90TL, there is a reset button accessible from the front. Such

There does not appear to be a "factory reset" procedure for the 90L. I went
down and looked at my standalone 90L+ and there is no reset port.
It appears that the correct reset procedure is to clear/set authorized mode as
appropriate (using the power cycle as authorization), and then set the

Rich,
This procedure doesn't re-establish the factory defaults. It is one of
those flawed designs that occasionally slip through to cut costs with
unexpected consequences. The 90L and 90L+ are the only Decservers with no
reset to factory defaults capability. The follow on product, the 90TL has
