What I do when things don't make sense to me is ask the customer for an example
of use.
Lots of times - if not all times - they have a good reason for asking and then
you will better understand the requirement and maybe figure out a better
solution.

I need to send a 10 digit unique ID over the network.
I've been doing it for years by replacing the INVITE FROM header with the 10
digit value.
Looks like a phone number.
