Other than the price, no complaints! At this point, I'm willing to give in on
the price.

Hey stranger!
What if the email handle is not on the same domain as the sipdomain then?
This is the reason why I was asking about being able to define a naming
convention based on the firstname/lastname. Could we also look at taking the
"userpart" of the email instead?

I have only good things to say about the dect stuf (kirk) too from what
others have told me with sipx. The other spectralink stuff is totally (you
know what) weird and should be avoided.
Congratulations. You need to create a wiki page on it!

As for a default IM (JID) name for a user, would it make sense to align that
with the user's email handle? The user would then have an extension, as
well as an IM ID, which at the same time is inserted as an alias. This way
XMPP ID and SIP ID are aligned and the user can log into the IM client a

This is a fun 1 way conversation, but I will continue on.
The 8440 works great. You can tell it is built on the Soundpoint SIP
stack. It just works. I'm surprised at how little I have had to tell it.
It just works. Hold, transfers, IVR, VM, everything. I cannot find any
feature that does not wo
correct and what you would find in your current version is that if you
restarted presence it might hang shutting down. so if you attempt this you
are forwarned that a reboot might be needed.

Because admins should control generating the phone books (who is in the
phone books). The phone books are generated with member and consumer
groups. Users have no knowledge of these groups.

The other option is to write a plug in for Exchange that runs on the Exchange
box. The API is unlikely to change. I can look at some details in a couple of
weeks if this is the only option. We will be pushing out Exchange 2010 in a
couple of months and we need this working as well.

assuming the phone supports the dworley draft MoH standard (
http://tools.ietf.org/pdf/draft-worley-service-example-08.pdf), the MoH
setting should point to: ~~mh~@your.sip.domain
