It is only a problem with poly com phones (as far as I know)... they hate
that. If you have that situation, just disable the SRV records.

hostname as the sipX domain as well?

When I used sipx.mycompany.com, ext to ext calls would not work without
adding aliases to Server>Domain. And even then, the V-mail indicator
does not work.
Is there a way to switch back to using mycompany.com as the sip domain
without a reinstall?

If you want A-Record resolution and you will never add another server, you
can use sipx.mycompany.com. If you want to add another server at a later

I think the question is WHY do you want the sipdomain to be the same as the
domain name of your company. Realize its a two-edged sword with XMPP. XMPP
with openfire can only be the sipdomain (not an alias). Since most of my
customers ahve XMPP service hosted elsewhere, it's more desirable to use a

when asked for the Network settings, I enter
Hostname: sipx.mycompany.com
IP: 192.168.111.111 (static IP of sipX server)
Netmask: 255.2
When you setup sipx, the most reliable way to configure it is:
sipdomain.tld
and hostname.sipdomain.tld as two different values.
when a phone registers it should register to "subscri...@sipdomain.tld"
Ultimately it DOES NOT MATTER where DHCP and DNS come from, so long as it
is accurate and works
On the install of 4.4, I used the hostname and had the installer install
DHCP and DNS as well. There are no other DNS servers on the network.
This is why I do not understand why I have to 'fix' my DNS. Isn't sipX
supposed to config everything correctly on install (assuming I entered

I'd like to use 4-digit extensions in sipXecs (v4.4). What things do I

'Internal station extension length' and the 'VM extension' in the
Voicemail dial plan? Any other items?

You can imap sync the voicemail if your imap server supports the correct
parameters. See the wiki.

Hello,
With the webservice for voicemail its possible to check if messages have been

Basic calls are working. Now I tested attended/unattended transfer through
karoo. In my current configuration the Refer message is forwarded through
karoo which is not desired. The documentation of karoo says “*Bridging the
