Strictly speaking from an IP and operating system perspective:
In most Linux distro's routing is turned off by default. This means that
if the machine has multiple IP subnets it can reach all of them, but
will not pass packets between them for other devices.
The question what IP address SIPX proc
Greetings,
Can I create a VLAN e.g. etho.200 and assign a static IP address (172.0.200.1)
Can I have eth0 with an IP of 192.168.1.1 (default because VLAN will not load
without etho)
Can i have the DHCP server assign IP to Polycom phones via CDP or do I have to
manually assign the VLAN at boot?
The easiest approach is to enable routing in the EX4200 juniper switch.

What switch is it? If it routes make sure routing is turned on.

Do you have any routing going on between those subnets? If not, that
might be a good place to start. If those switches have routing
capabilities built in then I would utilize them.

Matt - Congrats on the success!
Our system is up and running, but we have an issue with vlans it looks like.
Any suggested deployment configurations/examples would be great when it
comes to networks. Sorry now if this is a dumb question!

What you are describing is typically how phones and PCs are connected in
an enterprise LAN to do VoIP. You need to program your phones to
connect to the VoIP VLAN using VLAN2 so all traffic generated by the
phone will be tagged with VLAN2. The phone will switch all traffic
received on its PC
Hi all:
I want to VLAN our network to put data on VLAN1 and the phone system on
VLAN2. we have Cisco 2950 switches.
Is it possible to create VLANs if our PCs are connected to the phones
which then connect to the switches (i.e., one port for a phone and PC)?
Or must I run two network cables and us
