but that is almost 3 years old now, and is due an update.

Well, that's not my opinion. IMO, what's broken is
(1) an http tool like wget that by default ignores what the http
protocol is telling it.

on downloads from Github (even though the contents of the downloads
are exactly the same).

Matteo says (and he's always right!) that on -current it will build if
you change this bit in the SlackBuild
-Dnullptr=NULL
to
-Dnullptr=nullp

I don't know a good way to make them crash, sometimes it is hardware
dependent. I have a P4 (one core of course) with hyperthreading that
is very good at crashing with -j3, but I don't use it much

I've just removed qbs from the 'pending' database, I think you can
resubmit now. Hopefully :)
I was wondering if you've tested qt-creator with the new qbs?
qt-creator failed to build for me with qbs-1.8.1.
