Hello,
I don't know if this is going out to Sloannnet, as this is my first
try, but I am hoping for success.
I just have something to say about the Halifax scene that has
nothing to do with music. It's about the people. I have to admit that i
haven't been following any scene for very long at all, I mostly listen to
jazz and blues.I know that sounds like some kind of snobbish thing to say but
it's true. Anyways, I have come to Halifax for a holiday, with basically no
pre-arranged place to stay, and I have been welcomed openly by a lot of
really cool people. Everyone here has a real laid-back and unpretentious
attitude towards life, in no way naive but at the same time in no way cynical
or jaded. They do wonder why someone would come from Vancouver to holiday in
Halifax, but that's just the usual amount of boredom talking, the kind that
everyone has with their hometown. What am I trying to say? I guess I'm trying
to say: If you ever go looking for your hearts desire, come to Halifax.
You're going to love the way we live! Sorry, that last sentence was kind of
sarcastic, but I meant everything else. I think everyone should send an open
letter to Sloannet thanking Colin MacKenzie for being such a groovy guy.
Before I came here I was a lost soul who knew not his own name.

                                                                        ,Carl

P.S. I've heard a lot of amazing artists thrown around as posssible Pop
Explosion gigs, but I guess I can't mention any of them at this juncture.
Okay, I'll mention one. The Grifters might be one, and if that doesn't excite
you then you ain't got a good mind.
