I had some comments written back not understanding that last post 
regarding failing math in grade 10 and the Television LP.I don't mean 
to sound so cryptic n'all.......anyways to nail the lid on the 
already closed coffin...I was remarking on a band who I feel are 
sorta forefathers of all this "math rock" jive. Television 's 1st 
7"(Little Johnny Jewel) on Ork Records and their debut LP (Marquee 
Moon) on Elektra set the standard of skinny white dudes playing 
angular  music. They were one of the first bands that focused 
primarily on the duelling twin guitars that was not born from a 
traditional form or blues base(like for example..The 
Yardbirds)....their solos were more like jazz solos  and their riffs 
are very  mathematically thought out. I sorta think 
they fit into Catano's guideline which seemed accurate.
