I had some comments written back not understanding that last post regarding failing math in grade 10 and the Television LP.I don't mean to sound so cryptic n'all.......anyways to nail the lid on the already closed coffin...I was remarking on a band who I feel are sorta forefathers of all this "math rock" jive. Television 's 1st 7"(Little Johnny Jewel) on Ork Records and their debut LP (Marquee Moon) on Elektra set the standard of skinny white dudes playing angular music. They were one of the first bands that focused primarily on the duelling twin guitars that was not born from a traditional form or blues base(like for example..The Yardbirds)....their solos were more like jazz solos and their riffs are very mathematically thought out. I sorta think they fit into Catano's guideline which seemed accurate. My 2cents.
