I know there is no perfect solution.
TV has always been censored throughout Australia.
If TV becomes and online? What happens if it is uncensored?
Mum and Dad who don't know how to filter their own web content what do
they do?
I know my grandfather cant use his mobile phone let alone filter

One problem that arises is that because this is an 'opt-out' strategy, by
opting out you may be put onto a list of deviants that could be used in a
variety of illegitimate ways
I have seen this and have this same issue with my USB headset and when I
used to use my A2DP headset, the only way I found to play with the volume
was with the buttons on the side that plugged into the gnome sound manager.
So maybe alsa-config?

Thanks to James Purser and Gareth. I ended up avoiding the solution to the X11 auth
probs by installing the right version of vmware-server-console locally and connecting
to the remote server directly from my local box rather than through another servers
console.
Now I can connect
