These days the official id Quake 3 release (1.32) runs rather poorly on
Linux. In particular, audio does not work properly on modern distros.
I would recommend that you use ioquake3 [0] instead. It is based on the
Quake 3 1.32 source code, but contains countless improvements. It still
requires the original Q3 data files, so make sure you copy them over.
