Trying to sync with stratum 1 servers is the problem.
Check pool.ntp.org.
Err don't think I'm trying to do that, my config is;
server 0.pool.ntp.org
server 1.pool.ntp.org
server 2.pool.ntp.org

I've got a linux box on a private network behind another Linux box
acting as a firewall and masquerading outbound connections. Trouble is I
can't seem to get ntpd working on the inside machine (It's going fine on
