I'm using Fedora Core 3 by default (hda2), with the alternative being Windows 98 (hda1). I've organised things so that hda1 is always available to me in Fedora.

When I double click the "Computer" icon on the desktop, an icon for hda1 appears in the opened window with the following name "3.2G Hard Drive: NO NAME". When I right click on that icon, "Rename" is dimmed.

How may I change that icon name?

When I plug a USB drive in, an icon for it appears on the desktop called "NO NAME (2)". If I then open the "Computer" window, an icon for the USB drive appears in it with the name "OTi Flash Disk: NO NAME (2)". Right clicking on each of those icons produces a dimmed "Rename".

How may I change those icon names?
