It helps on my Satellite 2590CDS to hold 'c' while the TOSHIBA screen is
up; it will then seem to try extra hard at booting off whatever CD is in
the drive.
Possibly completely different.

I hope your cdrom is 1st (or 2nd after the floppy) boot drive in the
bios setup?
