did you compile or did you get wine from a binary?
possibly opengl support has been excluded, either by autoconfig (or its friend)
not finding opengl headers when compiling or because wine has been split into
small pieces (ie wine-base, wine-opengl, wine-this, wine-that, wine-theother)

OK so glxgears did not work and I am now using proprietary nvidia
drivers and glx is definitely working...
opengl32.dll.so is missi
although you may have installed glx, it would seem that wine is unconvinced
does glxgears run?
