Hi,

X is crashing (I here the monitor click and I'm dumped back into gdm,
pretty catastrophic stuff really) when (and only when) I am using a
certain app - spdbv a molecular visualisation program see: http://us.expasy.org/spdbv/

I had emailed the spdbv guys about it and they didn't have an ideas,
they did however say this about the fact that some of the gui
funcitonality isn't working properly.

"... the problems of the spdbv GUI (Menus, buttons etc) under Linux are
related to a software library (Latitude) that is no longer supported by
the manufacturer."

Could the crashes be related to this? From memory the seem to occur when
I am clicking around in the menus, some of which work fine, but I can't
reliable reproduce the crashing effect.

The other thing is that I'm running Debian Woody but with a backport
(from apt-get.org) of xfree86 4.3 since in 4.3 the i810 driver supports
the i865 intel extreme graphics thing it has in it. I stress though that
only spdbv gives me problems so I don't think the backport is the problem.

Any clues?
