For the time being, that's still true. You will need firmware that
provides an emulated BIOS boot environment.
Some work in the illumos community is on-
I'm pretty sure this is a "no" from what I've been finding so far, but...
Is it safe to assume that SmartOS does not currently support booting from

kernel/boot_archive from SmartOS, but it would just eventually hang on

Robert, my apologies for my poor communication. The FreeBSD image does have
that added, I wanted to know how to add it for the OpenBSD install I'm going to
do. The question for OpenBSD was previously answered by Antoine and Jorge.
Thanks to all!

For OpenBSD I just selected com0 during the install, then switched to
vmadm console to complete the rest of the installation and disabled VNC.

I really like is being able to do 'vmadm console UUID' and not have to use VNC.
Maybe I've done something wrong in the past, but I don't recall being able to
do that.
What would I need to add to be able to run 'vma
Hi,
Lots of people seem to have issues following that guide but in the end
it was always the same problem.
If you change the subnet, make sure to update the addresses in the nat
