Could you please try fso-abyss (or even fsogsmd, which no longer needs a
seperate MUX daemon), it's a much more reliable reimplementation of our
GSM 07.10 MUX daemon.
I have just tried 5 phone application starts with fso-abyss

Well, since fso-abyss is just a standalone version of libgsm0710mux,
which I still maintain, we can consider it being alive, although
somewhat deprecated, since we no longer use the pty redirection in
fsogsmd.

during the last days I created Debian packages of fso-abyss and its 2
libraries to ease testing it. One thing I noticed, it doesn't like vala 0.7.0
(current in debian) as it doesn't create .h-files automaticaly anymore and
causes errors with errno respective doesn't include errno.h
