Hi Peter
have you tried reinstalling OS X 10.6 from the DVD that came with your
computer, then running the 10.5.6 combo updater from the apple website?

Hi Martin
The standard gmail import shouldn't remove emails from the server, the POP3
account access will unless you tick the box during account configuration to
remove from the POP3 server.

Hi Sam,
The Gmail method seems straightforward. How do I set the mail client/website
not to delete email from the server?
I am ready to press import but don't want to screw up.

As I said in a previous email i do have both machines set to remove from the
server straight away. It is worth pointing out again my partner is having the
same problems and zero of his emails are on the eMac and he only has 8 emails.
So you see quantity is irrelevant. I started getting problem
Hi Sam,
I've never had anything to do with Hotmail before today. The bottom line is
that there are thousands and thousands of emails in various folders, which are
vital to the business. My Wife met the owner in London today and they are both

Hi Peter
Given that none of us on this list are able to "sort out 10.6" and that kicking
up a fuss in the Apple Store will get you nothing more than an apology and a
blank stare as you walk away, probably your best bet of fixing this issue is to
change the way that you organise your emails or r

Another thought ... your host may be blocking you for too many
attempts at retrieving mail in a specific period. Most hosts have
limits on the number of mail pickups, to stop people setting their
mail packages looking for mail every 10 seconds (believe me, it
happens!!).
Is there any way of stopping this? Not only are names duplicated 2, 3 or 4
times but also within an address if I have written a note for instance the
name of someone's husband, this is duplicated about 8 or 10 times.

I would be tempted for this domain to move to google apps hosting, you get 50
users free with 8GB per user. It should suffice for your 35 email addresses!
You could set up one account for yourself, then add in the 34 other email

Hi Peter
When you collect email from the same account on two computers (with a POP
account), the first computer will lock the mailbox. If the second computer
connects at the same time then it'll get an error.
It's a long shot but that could be a possible cause?
