Sorry to hear you are having problems with your mac. I would defiantly get
a second opinion before proceeding to spend that much money. Many
independent companies offer free diagnostics of some kind. If they are all
saying the same thing i.e. corrosion or faulty display then choose

Finally, with a genius showing me the way, I did manage to get my iTunes stuff
on my machine, mainly. I find some has vanished into iCloud, but I expect I'll
find out how to fix this. Thanks to all for your help.
