p.s. just to reiterate this wouldn't have to be a particularly new MAC I
think I could get Logic 8 running acceptably on one a generation or so old.
This would be all the computer was used for and I could customise the logic
installation and make it as resource friendly as possible.

Sounds like the sparsebundle that TM backs up to hasn't been closed off or is
corrupt. This might take a while but try it :
Mount the WD share as a volume on your Mac's desktop, find the sparsebundle
file that TM backs up to
Open Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > drag the spars
Can anyone advise? Recently my Time Machine backup to a WD MyBook Live drive
has gone disastrously wrong. I accidentally interrupted a backup just before it
finished and this caused warning messages from Time Machine telling me that it
would no longer make backups until a completely new backup w
