Hi Jason,
Thanks for the feedback.
He USED to sync his phone to my iMac, (Photo’s iTunes.) but has not done so for
over a year so I don’t believe he is precious about the backup content on my
machine, but I suppose that means he does have an iTunes account associated
with the iMac.
Hope that
It depends what 'sync' means. Does he have his own iTunes library on
your machine? Does he sync photos? (for instance).
It will offer to erase the phone as it's synced with another library.
You could move the library file to the MacBook Pro but then it would
carry its record of all your stuff
Hi,
My son currently syncs his iPhone to my iMac but I am about to give him my 5
year old Mac Book Pro
How do I best disassociate his phone from my iMac and associate it with the
laptop?
Any guidance much appreciated.
Steve.

That’s a good point Nick.
I couldn’t initially update Numbers either - got the same error. However,
Numbers WAS on the purchased tab and so I was able to download that. :-)
I could not (and still cannot) download Pages though. I used the Apple ID
support and requested a call. Here’s how to get
Phil,
It just seems worthwhile to suggest that you check in the App Store under the
‘Purchased’ tab, not just with your Apple ID but also with any other family
members. I discovered that all previously downloaded software is listed there.
But hopefully a phone call will sort it if all else fails.
Thanks for your information Stephen. Can you tell me how you managed to get to
talk / communicate with Apple? I'm really mystified about what I might have
done to get this problem. My Apple ID works with everything else!
cheers,Phil T
