The combo update is a good way of updating if you have a collection of
Macs, you download the file once and then copy it via one's network to all
the other Macs in your network and then execute the Combo update. Saves on
multiple downloads.

I use the download section on the UK Apple website where there is a clearly
marked combo update. It’s usually quicker than through the App Store I have
found. I always remember Sam suggesting that this is the safest option because
then the extra part is seamlessly embedded in the whole OS
