Thanks for the suggestions.
As it's not my equipment I think I'll just live with plugging into the router
with a cable. I don't want my friend coming back and finding he can't use his
network.
Have a great weekend

For NetGear routers it's usually admin/password, which means the default admin
password has been changed. Best bet is to find out your ADSL connection
username & password from your ISP, then factory reset the NetGear and set it up
again from scratch.

Hi Philippe
yes an ethernet cable will get you online straight away. You won't get the
192.168.0.1 page until you're on the wireless network.
Try connecting with a cable, go to http://192.168.0.1 and log in there, then
change the password under wireless settings. Make sure the encryption's set
Thanks again for your suggestions. Going to 192. Etc. doesn't work. 2 browsers
tell me the page is unavailable.
Sam, deleted the keychain items but login attempts still time out.
Am I right in thinking that if I get hold of an Ethernet cable and connected
the Mac directly to the router I can
Hi Philippe
Try going to Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access > In both the 'login'
and 'system' keychains, remove all saved passwords for the network. Then try
joining again.

iPhone has no problems. The MacBook has been on this network before (it's
listed in Network Preferences). That's what I find odd. The iPhone logged on
fine but the MacBook which was last here at the same time as the phone is
stuck.
Jason, I've given it a full 20 mi
Also worth checking that there isn't an access control issue - maybe your host
added your iPhone to the access control list, but it doesn't know your MacBook?
Are you still able to access with your iPhone?

This is probably totally irrelevant to the conversation, but for some
reason, anything made by Apple has to have a Dollar sign in front of my
password at home. I have a Wii (by Nintendo) which only needs the password
issued by O2.

Hi,
I've just come back to England for a few weeks to housesit a friend's house and
I'm having problems getting onto his wifi with my MacBook. It has been on the
network before (it shows in network settings) and my iPhone logged on
faultlessly.
It keeps asking me for a password which I've con
