b. Load handling (# of SOAP requests/min that it can
handle)
c. Large XML payload handling
d. Memory footprint (startup, runtime)
etc.

The following paper has performance figures for a
number of SOAP implementations, including Apache and
Axis.

Hi Bruno,
I am attaching a small sample applet that runs against
the Currency
Conversion service listed at xmethods
(http://www.xmethods.com/ve2/ViewListing.po?serviceid=5.)
For an applet, you'd want to use a very lightweight
SOAP client- Apache SOAP
is not the best fit in such cases. This is be

Russell,
Apache SOAP is a java library- you would need to write
your service in java. In case you wish to write a C++
Web Service, you would need to use a C++ SOAP

* easySOAP++

Gianni,
I haven't tried it personally, but the Wingfoot
SOAP client will work with JDK 1.1.

Valle,
You might want to take a look at something more
lightweight than Apache SOAP for an Applet.
kSOAP (http://ksoap.enhydra.org/) and Wingfoot SOAP
(http://www.wingfoot.com/products.jsp) might be a
better fit.

Take a look at http://www.soaprpc.com/software/
It lists a number of SOAP implementations, including
C++ clients.

If you can wait for a while, then I'd suggest that
you go for Professional XML Web Services. This should
be out next month.
